Letters to Scorpio(Kobo/電子書)

In theory, Letters To Scorpio is a psychoanalytic run through the gamut of mortal emotions and desires (that which is often portrayed in animalistic displays of Self), from the perspective of Scorpionic archetypes that takes us from painfully narrow obsessions to an ever widening spectrum of self discovery, to then, an ultimate freedom from past forms. Though not necessarily an astrological frame of reference, the Plutonic ruled 8th sign of the zodiac is inherently most capable of bringing one into the depths of darkness to then release them into the opportunity for utmost illumination by striking, evolutionary contrast.
Here we go from the indefinite fragilities of man to the untouchability of Overallness in what it is to simply and boundlessly Be.
The trick is, one has to stay alive through every death.
In poetic form, the following 7 archetypal phases take us there in hierarchical order;

1. In its lowest form, it is the insidious but enchanting black widow.

The spider doesn’t know that she’s wicked, for she functions solely on instinct. There are people like this; Think of what it is like to be a billionaire. How many arms would you need to hold all your gold? And because you have 8 arms, you instinctively use them. Others may say you’re self-serving because they only have 2 arms. They will never understand you. They fear you. And so you use that.

2. The scorpion is a compact little creature who wants to be left alone for the most part, but also desires to feel EVERYTHING. Innumerable little hairs cover its limbs, as its body begs to understand the world around it … but too, makes it so sensitive to touch that it embodies touch itself, and so it retreats deep inside its own Being, quietly as the world around it only sees its intimidating exterior. If you get too close, you will be stung, but most often, it will sting itself before anyone gets that close. Imagine an incurable recluse who so intensely wishes to be touched to the point they embody sensation itself.

3. The serpent. She is what the scorpion turns into when the desire to be alive exceeds its own exoskeleton. She too, is an elusive creature who uses her venom for survival (food or to defend herself), but here, she has developed the ability to entangle with others. She intimately wraps around and squeezes with desire and need. And then after devouring her prey, with her entire body pressed against the earth, will slither away until hungry once more. She will shed several times, renewing herself, while feeling every vibration the ground produces. She has less fears than the scorpion, but is still highly sensitive to her surroundings and possible predators. Because of this, she develops and embodies the 3rd eye itself, adorning the heads of pharaohs.

4. The grey lizard; This one is the darkest - even more so than the instinctive and seemingly narcissistic spider. Why? Because it's fully aware of the pain it inflicts, but rather enjoys it. Some say that the lizard is like the watcher. More of an observer. And though that’s true in part, that is not all he is. He’s most ancient and knows far more than he lets on. His secrets stretch beyond time, and no one will ever see the depths of his darkness. Where the spider has a certain eight-armed grasping greed, the lizard’s insatiability for experience knows no ends, which often leads him into deep addiction; Be that in the form of drugs, lust, or power; the lizard’s DESIRE to know is troubling to an almost macabre extent. The lizard phase (not just for those born under the sign of Scorpio), often succumbs to addiction. It appears to me that is why they are grey, as if the life-force has been drained from them, and they sooner than later meet their demise. I have had a many a grey lizard as an acquaintance, and too, I’ve been entangled in my own version of that phase. It's the devil’s grasp, and intensely difficult to free oneself from. The binging, the obsession for revenge, or the alcoholic ruminating over failure and botched connections that lead to thoughts of suicide are also grey lizard attributes. The grey lizard embodies the consequence of having had too much sans boundaries.

5. The wolf; loved, feared and admired. The wolves are often family people. They either become that way after years of being one of the previous creatures, or they meet their mate early in life and mate for life in a far away den for their loved ones and themselves. Go near a wolf’s cub, and they will shred you into pieces within a forest no one else can find.

6. Eagle. In short, the eagle is what happens when a Scorpio has been enlightened, and is beyond earthly desires, but with its magnificent sight, can see when others are in despair, and so swoop in to save them from themselves. Without ever even knowing that they are a hero, their presence alone will lift those they come into close contact with.

7. Phoenix. Very rare. No one on Earth will meet one. They’ve ascended beyond, and speak to and through us from the higher unseen realms.

We all have the ability to embody these traits.
